St Edmundsbury is at the heart of the East of England, close to Cambridge and on the A14, well-placed for Stansted airport and the East Coast ports.
The borough has a rural character with two market towns, Bury St Edmunds and Haverhill. It is an attractive and unspoilt area, with a good quality of life and growing tourism industry.
St Edmundsbury is generally prosperous and is in an area of marked economic growth. The largest employment sectors are public services, manufacturing and retail/wholesale.
