Who we are and what we buy

St Edmundsbury Borough Council delivers services to over 98,000 residents and 4,000 businesses in the borough either directly or by employing others to act on its behalf.

To deliver these services we buy goods and services ranging from ballpoint pens to buildings. We spend around £14 million on these goods and services every year and our aim is to ensure that they provide value for money. We are committed to improving our efficiency, and reducing procurement costs. We will do all we can to use a mix of the best suppliers to promote a diverse and competitive local economy. Achieving our aim depends on:
  • quality of products and services;
  • cost of products and services;
  • availability of products and services; and
  • equality, sustainability and health and safety.
If you can meet our needs this is your opportunity to trade with us and be part of a vibrant local economy to benefit you and the St Edmundsbury community.
