Review of enforcement policy

St Edmundsbury Borough Council is reviewing its Enforcement Policy to include the obligations of the Regulators’ Compliance Code, some recent changes in the guidance to local authorities in respect of surveillance and service specific policies in respect of food safety and health and safety at work.

The Policy is an important document as it defines the principles the Council will follow when taking enforcement/regulatory decisions. This will ensure that decisions are consistent, fair and proportionate to the circumstances.

The draft of the revised Policy can be found on www. http://www.stedmundsbury.gov.uk/sebc/live/Corporate-Enforcement-Policy.cfm

We would welcome any views and comments you may have in respect of the Policy and a feedback form is available for this purpose on the website.

The closing date for the consultation is 6 July 2010.
