Seasonal park and ride 2009

 

People getting off a Park and Ride busDrivers visiting Bury St Edmunds can avoid the town centre traffic and road closures by using the seasonal park and ride scheme.

The sites will be signposted to take drivers to the car parks, with shoppers being dropped off and picked up near the town centre. Buses will run into town every 15/20 minutes at a cost of £1.50 for each car load of people.

Park and Ride timetable operates from two areas -

Bury St Edmunds East, Kempson Way, Moreton Hall (junction 44 off A14) - Drop off point is Crown Street (nearest to Christmas Fayre).

Bury St Edmunds West, Olding Road, Western Way (junction 42 off A14) - Drop off point is the Bus Station (nearest to the town centre).

  • Saturday 28 November 9am to 6.45pm
  • Sunday 29 November 10am to 5.45pm

Free bus to the Christmas Fayre

St Edmundsbury is organising a free bus service to the Bury St Edmunds Christmas Fayre. The bus will provide transport to and from the event on Sunday 29 November. The route (still to be confirmed) is planned to start at Honington and call at Ixworth Thorpe, Troston, Livermere, Ampton, Ingham and then Bury. Please check the pick-up points with the Tourist Information Centre on 01284 764667. You will also need to book a seat on this number.

Christmas shopping every Saturday and Sunday in December

  • 10am to 6pm

You can find the East park and ride car park off Kempson Way, Moreton Hall, in Sealeys and Denny Bros car park and the West park and ride car park in Olding Road, Western Way. Stewards will be on site to collect money, hand out tickets and direct drivers to spaces and to the buses. The drop off and pick up point in town is Crown Street for the Christmas Fayre (Kempson Way) and the Bus Station (Olding Road). Christmas shopping park and ride in December will drop off on the Angel Hill, near to the war memorial (where the buses usually pull in), on the remaining Saturdays and Sundays..

From 9.30am Thursday 26 November to 9pm Sunday 29 November 2009

Abbeygate Street - from east of its junction with Whiting Street to Angel Hill (except that cross traffic from High Baxter Street to Hatter Street and Lower Baxter Street to Angel Lane shall be permitted.
Angel Hill - the car park area from its junction with Abbeygate Street to its junction with Northgate Street Angel Hill - the road from its junction with Churchgate Street to its junction with Northgate Street
Chequer Square - the entire car park area
