Market Weston

The attractive small village of Market Weston lies alongside the B1111 in north Suffolk. Its historical roots go back to Domesday with a market charter which was granted in 1263. The parish church, dedicated to St Mary, is surrounded by a well-kept churchyard that also contains a polished granite war memorial. The small village hall, which was originally the primary school, now looks out onto the village sign which was unveiled in 1990.

The village green, which is behind the village hall, was opened in 2005. It is a beautiful area of 2.5 acres with mature oak trees, and recently planted trees and copses. It also has a kick-about area, play mounds, wood sculptures, a trim-trail and picnic benches, all within easy reach of the circular wheelchair-friendly path which has disabled access. Bird and bat boxes and wildflower areas complete the picture.

Market Weston fen, owned by Suffolk Wildlife Trust, is situated on the edge of the village, and is renowned both nationally and internationally for its wildlife.

The Mill Inn public house sells, among other fine ales, the award winning Old Chimneys beers which are brewed in the village.
