Looking across the roofs of Bury St EdmundsHeritage Open Days are a national celebration of England's cultural and architectural heritage. The event is coordinated by the Civic Trust, and involves special openings of interesting buildings. Some are not normally open to the public while others are normally open at a charge. Entry is usually free, but check to see whether you need to book in advance.

Heritage open days 2011 will be on 8 - 11 September.

There are a range of walks, lectures tours and displays including guided tours of Bury St Edmunds, Clare, Ixworth, Culford School and The Norman Tower and a chance to visit some of the area's places of historic interest free of charge such as  Moyse's Hall Museum, West Stow Anglo-Saxon Village, Bardwell Windmill, Fullers Mill Gardens, United Reformed Church and many more.
