The Theatre Royal is a National Trust property open to visitors four days a week. A magnificent Victorian Hall built in 1883 by the Gurteen family and recently refurbished to include facilities for theatre, film, dance, crafts, meetings and exhibitions. Please phone the Box Office, drop in or go to the Haverhill Arts Centre web site for a full programme. Cafe and bar available. Films are shown as part of the theatre's regular programme.

The Abbeygate Picturehouse Cinema, 4 Hatter Street, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk IP33 1NE
The Abbeygate Picturehouse Cinema in Hatter Street is the latest edition to the Picturehouse chain showing the pick of Hollywood blockbusters, the latest independent films and foreign language films from all over the world. We also screen live events such as National Theatre productions and Met Operas.
Both screens have been fully refurbished and now have reclining seats and luxury sofas at no extra cost. The screens are both now larger, have up to date sound systems and the ability to show everything from live satellite transmissions to 3D features.
A major refurbishment is imminent which will include a restaurant, bar and separate party room which will be available for private hire. This is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year.
