Armchair politics

A specially commissioned video has uncovered some startling insights into the views of young people in St Edmundsbury about the way they believe government should be run. The 'armchair politics' video, was produced by young film maker Ben Gray. In it, young people answer questions about government, and give their views on how they believe it should be run.

Wos Up logo

Wos Up! the mobile youth club, for young people over 13, is making more than 70 village visits between May and mid September

The Wos Up van is equipped with all kinds of equipment for sports including basketball and football, plus laptops with free internet access and other technology. There are youth workers on hand to organise activities and to provide information on health and other issues. The truck is visiting eight villages with the support of their parish councils. BurySOUND  - East Anglia's most well known Young Musician's Show case

BurySOUND has been running for almost 15 years, East Anglia's most well known battle of the bands competition endeavouring every year to uncover and promote some of the best up and coming young bands and solo performers.

 U Festival

A free youth festival, over three Thursdays in August, helped young people to broaden their horizons. On offer was sport, street art, a breakdance workshop, live music, skatepark and information about qualifications and careers.

The event called the U Festival (PDF 342Kb) was held in Haverhill Market Square between noon and 4pm on 4, 11 and 18 August.

skate jam flyer 2011

SkateJAM 2011 took place on Sunday 10 July

This free event at the Skatepark in Olding Road, Bury St Edmunds was held on 10 July 2011. It was open to all ages with a packed day designed to celebrate urban culture. Graffiti artists created new murals, DJs were mixing, meanwhile, on the ramps of the skate park itself, young people had the chance to showcase their talents with prizes given out to skateboarders, inline skaters, micro scooters and BMX riders. 

Hardcore Hobbies and St Edmundsbury Borough Council have put together what has been described as " the best free family day out you will have ever!!!"
