Holocaust Memorial Day

Candle Holocaust Memorial Day is on 27 January every year and offers an opportunity for people in the United Kingdom to reflect upon, consider and discuss how those events still have relevance for all members of today's society.

A Holocaust Memorial Day Service is organised by St Edmundsbury Borough Council and St Edmundsbury Cathedral and is held annually in the Abbey Gardens, Bury St Edmunds. The service is open to the public and all those who would like to attend are most welcome.

Holocaust Memorial Day Service Friday 25 January 2011

The Rwandan High Commissioner, His Excellency Ernest Rwamucyo, will be taking part in Bury St Edmunds' Holocaust Remembrance Service in the Abbey Gardens at 10.30 am on 27 January. He will be joining the Mayor of St Edmundsbury, members of the Cathedral, St Edmundsbury Borough Council and pupils from Guildhall Feoffment and St James Middle Schools.

The service will be conducted by Canon Matthew Vernon and the children from Guildhall Feoffment will be planting snowdrops during the singing, which will be provided by the Choir and musicians from St James Middle School.
