Armchair politics

A specially commissioned video has uncovered some startling insights into the views of young people in St Edmundsbury about the way they believe government should be run.

The 'armchair politics' video, was produced by young film maker Ben Gray. In it, young people answer questions about government, and give their views on how they believe it should be run.

Ben Gray (19) a former West Suffolk College video production student who now runs his own production company, Grayscale, said

"I interviewed about 100 young people aged between 15 and 19 years, at local schools, colleges, youth clubs and facilities and I was struck by their awareness and firm opinions. I had a list of questions varying from 'Do you know who the Prime Minister is?' to 'Does the democratic system make sense to you?' Some were a bit shy but the real challenge was summarising the long and articulate responses. The hours of video have been edited to around seven minutes. I hope it makes people realise how switched on young people are and how high their expectations are".
