TIME FOR A TEA DANCE

29 January, 2004

The magical era of afternoon tea dances is set to make a come back in Bury St Edmunds when the Manor House Museum will be launching the first of many on Friday 30 January.

From Friday people from across the borough will be able to put on their dancing shoes and head down to the new series of tea dances, which will be held in the fabulous Ballroom at the Manor House Museum in Bury St Edmunds.

Aside from being a great way to meet new friends in a friendly atmosphere, it’s also an enjoyable way to keep fit. The dancing will take place to a good mixture of music played at a level that will enable people to talk to their dancing partner and will include a mixture of old time dancing and modern.

Maggie Goodger, Museum Services Manager, comments:
“We’re really pleased that tea dancing is now available in Bury St Edmunds not only as a social event but as a way of encouraging fitness and healthy lifestyles amongst those who live in the borough.”

Doors will open at 1.45pm on Friday 30 January and dancing will finish at 3.45pm, there will be a maximum provision of 15 couples per session.

Further tea dances are planned to take place on Friday 20 February and Friday 19 March, for more information about further dates please call 01284 757076/74. Tickets cost just £2 per person and include tea/coffee refreshments.
