Work will start this weekend on essential structural repairs and replacement of worn out road surfaces on the roundabout of the A14 central interchange in Bury St Edmunds - known locally as St Saviours Interchange or Tesco’s roundabout.
The interchange will be closed while maintenance work takes place overnight on Saturday 21 February and will continue through the day on Sunday 22 February. It is being carried out by St Edmundsbury Borough Council on behalf of Suffolk County Council.
To ensure these roadworks are carried out safely, road closures will be in place on all of the A14 slip roads at this roundabout. This means that there will be NO access on to or off the A14 from the central interchange during this period. The road closures will be in place from 8pm on Saturday 21 February and although every effort will be made to complete work as quickly as possible, it is envisaged that road closures will remain in place until midnight on Sunday 22 February.
During this time access will be maintained to the Tesco’s store, who have been fully consulted about the work and traffic management proposals. Traffic using the A134 Compiegne Way will also be allowed to pass through the roundabout but the flow will be restricted to single flow using ‘Stop and Go’ signage.
Advance notice of this work is in place on the roundabout of the A14 central interchange and slip roads and every effort will be made to keep potential disruption to a minimum during this period.
