HOLIDAY ACTIVITIES AT MOYSE’S HALL AND MANOR HOUSE MUSEUMS

With the school half-term holiday just around the corner, Manor House and Moyse’s HallMuseums in Bury St Edmunds have organised a packed line-up activities that is bound to offer something for everyone.

 

Families visiting Moyse’s Hall between Monday 16 and Friday 22 February will be able to get their heads around a variety of fun quizzes, take a tour of Moyse’s Hall using a CD Rom and headphones, handle some of the items on display, such as fossils and toys, and learn more about their history. All of these activities are free.

 

The fun continues on Wednesday 18th February, when children are encouraged to take part in ‘Medieval Capers’. This event is aimed at five to ten year olds and will include making various crafts such as shields and horses, as well as learning some medieval dancing, jousting and games.  It costs £2 per child and children under the age of seven must be accompanies by an adult. 

 

Meanwhile at the ManorHouseMuseum, go on a Novelty Clock Tour and find out about how to keep time.  This activity is suitable for families and is being run in conjunction with the Theatre Royal in Bury St Edmunds and its two matinee performances of the extraordinary opera, ‘Clockwork’ – a spine chilling tale of wolves, forests and a clockwork prince. Novelty Clock Tours will run on Thursday 19 and Saturday 21 February from 1pm-1.30pm and will cost £1 for adults and 50p for children.

Moyse’s Hall is open from Monday to Friday, 10.30am–4.30pm and Saturday and Sunday from 11am-4pm.  Daily tours start at 11.30am and 2.30pm.  The Manor House is open from Wednesday to Sunday, 11am-4pm and daily tours start at 2pm.
