A taste of the continent comes to Haverhill

31 March, 2008

Residents in Haverhill will get the chance to sample a taste of the continent next weekend when the hugely popular continental market returns to the town for the third year.

More than 30 brightly coloured stalls will line Queens Street on Friday, Saturday and Sunday (4, 5 and 6 April), selling delicious fine foods, bags, luxury cosmetics and traditional craft products.

The continental stalls will complement the town's regular Friday and Saturday provisions market, which will be held as usual in the Market Square. Then, on Saturday and Sunday, the square will boast children's rides and entertainments, while an ice cream van will also be on hand.

Cllr Nigel Aitkens, St Edmundsbury Cabinet member for Haverhill, said:

"Previous continental markets have exceeded all expectations – but this year promises to be bigger and better than ever before. This year we have added extra entertainments over the weekend, and hope that even more people come along to soak up the atmosphere and see what Haverhill has to offer."

The market will be open from 9am until 6pm on Friday and Saturday and 10am until 4pm on Sunday.
