Work has started to repair a section of the ruined abbey wall in Bury St Edmunds.
The flint wall, which is attached to St Mary’s Church on the Crown Street side, needs repair to make sure it will remain in a good condition in future. Work will take place to make sure the core of the wall is intact while measures will be taken to protect it from the weather.
Scaffolding was put up around the wall on Wednesday and will remain in place for around eight weeks while the work, which is subject to weather conditions, takes place.
