Visitors to West Stow Anglo-Saxon Village can see sparks fly and enjoy the clash of iron when living history group, The People of Eoferwic, demonstrate Anglo-Saxon weaponry this May Bank Holiday weekend.
Between Saturday 2 May and Monday 4 May the village will be occupied by costumed interpreters who will give talks and demonstrations about Anglo-Saxon weapons and warfare using authentic spears, swords, shields and archery. Visitors will also see how their weapons were made on the reconstructed working forge.
Elsewhere in the village visitors can enjoy demonstrations of household crafts that were essential to a self-sufficient community, such as woodworking and pole lathing, spinning wool and weaving textiles, accompanied by the evocative smell of food cooked on open hearths.
West Stow Anglo-Saxon Village is open every day from 10am to 5pm with last admission at 4pm. Admission prices for “Weapons and Warfare” are £6 adults, £5 children/concessions, £17.50 family ticket.
