Two roads used as short cuts by drivers in Bury St Edmunds are to become one way.
Gypsy Lane and parts of Hardwick Lane will become one way on Monday, 4 December, for an experimental period of 12 months. The scheme will be reviewed after six months to see if it should be made permanent.
The experimental restriction has been introduced following consultation with local people after requests were made to reduce traffic using the area as a ‘rat run’.
Gypsy Lane will become one-way in a westerly direction and Hardwick Lane will become one-way in an easterly direction, from the junction with Horsecroft Road for around 100 metres. Cyclists will still be able to use the roads in both directions.
The scheme will be reviewed after six months to see if it should be made permanent.
