New crazy golf in the Abbey Gardens

25 July, 2008

Sports fans will have new ways to test their skills – and patience – this summer with a new crazy golf course in the Abbey Gardens, Bury St Edmunds.

The nine-hole course will challenge players of all ages and will be laid out on the top two lanes of the bowling green.

The temporary course is being supplied by local company, Connected Shopping Ltd, of Thurston. The course is portable and can easily be moved to a different position in the gardens if all six lanes of the bowling green are needed.

Cllr Lynsey Alexander, Portfolio Holder for Culture and Sport, said: “The traditional games of tennis, bowls and putting have always well used in the Abbey Gardens, particularly in the summer holidays, so we hope the extra attraction of crazy golf will be just as popular. The course will be there until the autumn and we hope as many residents as possible take the chance to enjoy this new attaction.”

The costs are £2.15 for adults, £1.45 for juniors, with £1 deposit for the putter.
