School holiday sporting fun will be on offer in Ixworth, Wickhambrook and Clare, kicking off with a range of events during the May half-term.
The idea is to take sporting activities out to the rural areas where children may not be able to get the transport they need to take them to the leisure centres in Bury St Edmunds and Haverhill. In Wickhambrook and Ixworth the activities will be centred around the village halls, while in Clare they will be held in the Middle School.
The programme, organised by St Edmundsbury Borough Council's sports development team, includes tennis, ball games, water safety, mini Olympics, athletics and much more. During half-term they will be at Wickhambrook on Tuesday 1 June, at Ixworth on Wednesday 2 June and at Clare on Thursday 3 June. Sessions in the morning, from 10.30am to 12.30pm, are for children aged five to nine years and from 1.30pm to 3.30pm the sessions are for those aged from nine to 13 plus.
