Small businesses in St Edmundsbury are being urged to check to see if they are eligible for a Government scheme offering business rates relief.
Cllr John Griffiths, Leader of St Edmundsbury Borough Council, which administers the scheme, said, "I am delighted that the Government has announced that it is extending the Small Business Rates Relief Scheme until 1 April 2013. While almost 80 per cent of eligible businesses in St Edmundsbury have signed up, I would encourage the remaining 20 per cent to get in touch with us so that we can help them too."
Eligible business ratepayers will receive relief at 100 per cent on properties with rateable values of not more than £6000 with a tapered relief of between 100 per cent and 0 per cent for properties with rateable values between £6001 and £12,000.
