BurySOUND final sold out

24 October, 2007

Tickets for BurySOUND, the battle of the bands competition, have been snapped up just hours after going on sale.

The tickets for the final, to be held on 2 November at the Corn Exchange, Bury St Edmunds, went on sale late Monday morning and were sold out by Tuesday lunchtime. Tickets for the two previous heats had also been in demand.

The line up for the final includes Thee Vicars, Persevere, High 5's All Round, Student and The Four Kicks. The winners, based on a popular vote plus a judges' vote, receive £500 of equipment, recording sessions at West Suffolk College, 500 CDs as well as the adulation of the crowd. Even though the event has an overall winner, the aim of the competition is to develop the talent of young people within St Edmundsbury.

Simon Pickering, St Edmundsbury's youth and community development officer, said:

"The atmosphere at BurySOUND is amazing. For the bands it is probably the first time they have played a big venue, with a big audience and a fully engineered sound system. The experience for both the audience and the bands is just incredible."

BurySOUND 2007 is an alcohol, drug and smoke free event for young people 13 years and older and is organised and run by St Edmundsbury Borough Council and St Edmundsbury Youth Forum.
