Share your views on Bury’s conservation area

24 September, 2007

St Edmundsbury Borough Council is asking for people’s views on a draft plan which will be used to help protect the special nature of the town centre conservation area in Bury St Edmunds.

The council has drawn up a draft character appraisal and management plan for the town’s conservation area. The plan has been drawn up in line with English Heritage guidelines to identify the characteristics which make the conservation area a special place worth protecting. It will also be used to help guide future development.

You can view the draft document at the council’s offices in Western Way and on Angel Hill, at the library on Sergeants Walk and on St Edmundsbury’s website, at www.stedmundsbury.gov.uk Anyone who has any questions about it can also go along to a drop-in session on Wednesday 17 October in the foyer of the Borough Offices, Angel Hill. Conservation officers Christine Leveson and Claire Johnson will be on hand to talk through the appraisal and answer any queries between 12 noon and 7pm.

The consultation runs from Monday 1 to Monday 29 October. Please make your comments in writing and send them to the Conservation Team, Environment Directorate, St Edmundsbury Borough Council, Western Way, Bury StEdmunds, IP33 3YS. Alternatively, you can email chris.leveson@stedsbc.gov.uk

All of the comments we receive will be summarised and reported to a future council meeting. St Edmundsbury will then adopt the amended document as planning guidance.
