A masterplan setting out where buildings will be sited on the innovative Public Service Village site in Western Way, Bury St Edmunds, is now available to view.
There is a public open day on Saturday 28 October at Bury St Edmunds Leisure Centre from 10am to 5pm and the masterplan documents can also be viewed on the Pick Everard website at www.pickeverard.co.uk/news/BuryPSV.htm or at the St Edmundsbury Borough Council offices in Western Way.
The Public Service Village (PSV) will bring together St Edmundsbury Borough Council and Suffolk County Council in one building in Western Way to provide better and more cost-effective services for customers in western Suffolk. The scheme was given the go-ahead by both councils in early 2006 following discussion of a business case which showed it made sense from the points of view of customers, planning, affordability and value for money. Construction is due to start next year with completion at the end of 2008. There is room on the site for other public sector partners to join in future years.
The scheme is now going through the development control process - St Edmundsbury is the local planning authority. Drawing up a masterplan, setting out the positions of various buildings, is part of that process and this has been put together by architects Pick Everard. A planning application will then be submitted early next year and this will include detailed studies on issues such as environmental and transport impact.
