The company about to start work on building a new eight-screen cinema in Bury St Edmunds is offering a four-day trip to New York as a prize for coming up with a suitable name.
The lucky winner will receive two free air tickets to New York, four nights in a hotel plus $500 (US dollars) spending money. The prize has been offered by Citygrove Securities PLC and the competition is being run by St Edmundsbury Borough Council on the company's behalf.
Toby Baines, Chief Executive of Citygrove Securities, said:
"Citygrove is delighted to be working with St Edmundsbury and Cine-UK, who will operate the eight-screen cinema, on this long-awaited state of the art leisure facility for the residents of Bury St Edmunds. The scheme has been designed around the family and contracts have now been exchanged on three of the four restaurant units to family orientated operators. They are Frankie & Benny's, a New York style Italian diner, Tootsies Hamburgers and ASK Pizza.
Ground enabling works will commence with the diversion of the water main by Anglian Water on 2August, with completion of the main construction programme anticipated in June 2005. The cinema will open to the public by Christmas 2005.
We are also delighted to be running a competition to choose a name for the scheme."
News of the cinema's start, and the competition to name it, has been welcomed by St Edmundsbury's Cabinet member responsible for Arts and Culture, Cllr Andrew Varley:
"Everyone will be delighted that this long-awaited facility is soon to take, literally, concrete form. The scheme for the cinema complements the exciting plans for the Cattle Market and will make a significant contribution to the borough's future prosperity. It is particularly good news that this generous competition is being offered, giving everyone the chance to get involved with this project."
Competition forms are available from Borough Council offices in Western Way and Angel Hill, Bury St Edmunds, and Lower Downs Slade in Haverhill. They can also be picked up from the Tourist Information Centre, Angel Hill, bus station in St Andrew's Street North, Athenaeum and Corn Exchange. Entry forms will also be available online through the Council's website www.stedmundsbury.gov.uk
