Budding bands from across the borough have until Friday 30 July to get in their entries for this year’s Band Competition – the highlight of the BurySOUND calendar organised by St Edmundsbury Borough Council.
This is the seventh year of the Band Competition and last year all bands played to capacity crowds in both the heats and the final. The competition is not just about winning but about the public exposure gained by being part of it. It has also proved to be a great opportunity to make contact with other bands and increase gig chances and extend networks.
The Band Competition gives twelve St Edmundsbury based bands the opportunity to play in a prestigious venue with a professional setup. Even though the event has an overall winner, the aim of the competition is much more about developing the local music scene and talent within St Edmundsbury. This is reflected in the enthusiastic and dedicated attitude of the sell-out crowds which are attracted to the competition.

The deadline for applications is 9amon Friday 30 July. Alternatively a copy of the application pack can be downloaded and printed off at The BurySOUND Band Competition has been running since 1998 and is growing bigger each year, with more and more local bands keen to take part.
