Chills and thrills will be on the menu for Hallowe’en as Moyse’s Hall Museum in Bury St Edmunds explores the spooky world of the supernatural.
Visitors are invited to take a trip back in time on 31 October to hear a Victorian gentleman recite two classic M R James ghost stories Lost Hearts and A Neighbour’s Landmark.
The stories were originally written by M R James, who was born in 1862, and were designed to be read aloud in a cosy atmosphere to friends or pupils at Kings College, Cambridge, and Eton, where he was provost. You too can sample the experience at Moyse’s Hall – if you dare!
The Victorian gentleman, who will be reciting the tales, said:
“M R James wrote ghost stories which capture the atmosphere of the late 19th early 20th century and are subtle enough to ensure you will look over your shoulder next time you are alone in the dark!”
The stories will be told between 6.30pm and 7.30pm on 31 October at Moyse’s Hall. The talks are suitable for anyone aged 14 upwards, and cost £5, to include tea or coffee. Booking is essential as space is limited. To book your place, contact Moyse’s HallMuseum on 01284 706183.
