St Edmundsbury Borough Council has won a contract to monitor the upgraded closed-circuit television (CCTV) scheme in Forest Heath.
It means that we will be working in partnership with Forest Heath to monitor 24 new digital cameras using recently installed state-of-the-art CCTV equipment, helping to reduce and detect crime and create a safe place to live.
Earlier in the year we invested over £340,000 on significant improvements to the CCTV system in Bury St Edmunds and Haverhill, making it easier to keep a check on potential trouble areas. This included replacing 48 old cameras with new digital versions, as well as new digitalised recording and reviewing system in the control room, new monitors and an upgraded fibre optic link.
St Edmundsbury will receive £24,000 a year to monitor the cameras using modern technology and equipment, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with extra members of staff on duty to monitor cameras in all locations.
Cllr Frank Warby, Portfolio Holder for Housing Health and Crime said:
“We are pleased to be working in partnership with Forest Heath on this initiative. By combining our resources and sharing the latest technology, we’ll be helping to prevent and detect crime in order to provide a safe environment for everyone.”
