Tickets for the best-ever BurySOUND have gone on sale and demand looks like being hot. Nine bands have been short listed, all young, local musicians with keen followings.
Two heats are scheduled for 5 and 19 October with the two best bands from each going forward to the final on 2 November at the Corn Exchange in Bury St Edmunds. The line-up for heat one on 5 October includes Three Vicars, The Setbacks, Persevere and My Little Red Door. Bands competing in the second heat on 19 October are Serious Delirium, Nevermind Tomorrow, Student, High 5s All Round and Blind Inspiration.
Tickets priced £3 are available from soundsplus, Risbygate Street; The Rehearsal Rooms, St Andrews Street South; Bury St Edmunds Bus and Coach Station, St Andrews Street North; and Tourist Information Centre on Angel Hill. They will also be available on the door at £5.
The Four Kicks, last year’s winners, said:
"BurySOUND last year was a really good competition; our winning was unexpected but felt a real achievement. The prizes were really useful; it allowed the band to buy important equipment which we use all the time"
Last year saw a capacity crowd and people queuing for tickets. The winners, based on a popular vote plus a judges’ vote, receive £500 of equipment, recording sessions at West Suffolk College, 500 CDs duplication as well crowd adulation. Even though the event has an overall winner, the aim of the competition is to develop the talent of musically-talented young people within St Edmundsbury.
BurySOUND 2007 is an alcohol, drug and smoke free event.
