Budding bands from across the borough have until Friday 29 July to get in their entries for this year’s Band Competition – the highlight of the BurySOUND calendar organised by St Edmundsbury Borough Council.
This year’s competition was launched at the opening night of the Bury Festival on 13 May by last year’s winner, the Secret Hairdresse,r and finalists Ashborn. Dates have now been confirmed for the various heats which will take place at the Corn Exchange in Bury St Edmunds as follows: heat one (7 October), heat two (22 October), heat three (4 November) and the final will take place on 26 November.
The Band Competition gives 12 St Edmundsbury-based bands the opportunity to play in a prestigious venue with a professional setup. You can also pick up a pack at Sounds Plus, Risbygate Street, Bury St Edmunds. The deadline for applications is 9am on Friday 29 July. Alternatively a copy of the application pack can be downloaded and printed off at www.stedmundsbury.gov.uk by following the link from the home page. Information about buying tickets for the various heats is also available.
