* Photo opportunity: street wardens and Suffolk Police will be outside the HSBC Bank on Abbeygate Street in Bury St Edmunds between 10am and 2pm on Wednesday 2 June, to security mark bicycles for free. The first 80 people to have their bike marked will also be given a free cycle lock.
Street wardens have teamed up with Suffolk Police in Bury St Edmunds to spread the message about bike security at a special cycle marking session in Bury town centre on Wednesday 2 June.
As part of an initiative to reduce bike theft across the region, street wardens and Suffolk Police will be outside the HSBC Bank at the top of Abbeygate Street in Bury St Edmunds to highlight some simple but effective ways of ensuring your bike is safe and secure at all times.
As a starter, anyone who brings their bike along between 10am and 2pm on Wednesday 2 June will be offered the opportunity to have it security marked for free. This involves marking the bike with your postcode and house number using a special UV pen. In the event of your bike being stolen and recovered it can then be returned to you.
In addition, free bicycle locks will be given away to the first 80 people who come along to have their bike marked. For more advice about keeping your bike safe, please contact Suffolk Police on 01284 774141.
