MARGERY ALLINGHAM CENTENARY AT MANOR HOUSE MUSEUM

The Manor House Museum in Bury St Edmunds will be featuring a fascinating display on the life and work of author Margery Allingham between 9 June and 22 August 2004.

 

The museum will be celebrating the centenary of this famous 1920’s crime writer with a display highlighting some of Margery Allingham’s published and unpublished work. Margery is well known for her contribution to the Golden Age of crime fiction and was the creator of the famous detective ‘Albert Campion’. Many of her books have since been adapted for cinema and television including those based on the adventures of Albert Campion.

 

The exhibition will feature manuscripts of draft novels and plays, both published and unpublished, as well as correspondence between Margery and other esteemed writers including Agatha Christie, Nancy Spain, Frank Swinnerton and Rebecca West.

 

The exhibition is free to residents, £2.50 for non residents and £2 for concessions. ManorHouseMuseum is open from Wednesday to Sunday between 11am and 4pm. For more information please contact the museum on 01284 757076/74.
