Head-Full crowned champs of BurySOUND 2008

17 November, 2008

Head-Full have been crowned overall winners of the 2008 BurySOUND competition in front of a sell out crowd at the Corn Exchange in Bury St Edmunds.

Beating off competition from heat two victors Beneath the Inferno and audience favourite band Its Not Me Its You, Head-Full were crowned champions on Friday night following votes from a judging panel and the audience. They walk away with £250 of equipment, recording sessions at the Shrubbery Recording Studios and recording session at West Suffolk.

The three bands were joined at the final by last year’s winners Student, who played a guest slot to an energetic crowd.

Simon Pickering, youth and community development officer at St Edmundsbury Borough Council, said:

“This year’s BurySOUND competition was a real battle with the scores being really close together. It really showcased the talents of young people in the borough.

“Both the heats and the final were hotly contested and had an electric atmosphere. Everyone, from the face=Arial staff to the audience, performers and judges, went home happy and are already looking forward to next year’s contest.”

The competition, sponsored by Soundsplus, West Suffolk College, BMPro, The Shrubbery Studios, The Rehearsal Rooms and Hardcore Hobbies, is a drug, alcohol and smoke free event held annually by St Edmundsbury Borough Council.
