Charities to benefit from former Mayor's fundraising

Photocall: Friday 24 June, 6.30pm. Former Mayor, Cllr Michael Jones, to present cheques totally more than £14,000 to local charities and organisations in the Mayor's Parlour, Borough Offices, Angel Hill, Bury St Edmunds.

 

St Edmundsbury's Deputy Mayor, Cllr Michael Jones, will be handing over cheques totalling £14,177 to 11 charities and organisations next week. The money was raised through various events held during the time when he was Mayor, from May 2004 to 2005.

 

Those who will be benefiting are:

CLIC (Cancer and Leukaemia in Children)                        £2000

Gatehouse (Caring in West Suffolk)                                £2000

West Suffolk Crossroads - Caring for Carers                    £2000

West Suffolk Headway (The Brain Injury Association)       £2000

Learning through Leisure

(for young people with learning disabilities)                      £2000

Riding for the Disabled (located at Culford Stables)          £1250

Special Care Baby Unit – Parent Support Group

(WestSuffolkHospital)                                                    £1000

Fledglings (provides help for parents and carers

of children with disabilities)                                             £500

The Rainbow Centre for Conductive Education                  £500

EACH (East Anglian Children’s Hospices)                       £750                 

Fornham St Martin PCC (St Martin’s Church)                  £177.69

 

 

                                        TOTAL                                 £14,177.69

 

Cllr Jones said:

"I would like to thank all of the agencies and organisations that I have worked with during my time as St Edmundsbury Borough Mayor and everyone who has helped with fundraising activities."
