A team from St Edmundsbury has been shortlisted for a national award recognising outstanding achievement in procurement.
The Procurement DR-IVE team has helped save the borough’s Council Tax-payers more than £100,000 by improving the way St Edmundsbury buys goods and services. The team, which is made up of officers working alongside a cross-party mix of councillors, has renegotiated contracts, improved training for the staff who order goods and established close relationships with neighbouring authorities to keep the costs of buying items down.
The outstanding achievement award is run by the Society of Procurement Officers in Local Government (SOPO). The St Edmundsbury team is one of three shortlisted in the borough council category and will find out if it has won during a gala dinner at SOPO’s conference in November.

Note to editors: DR-IVE stands for Dynamic Review – Innovation, Value, Enterprise. This is a process which looks at how customer service can be improved and costs reduced across all of the council’s services.
