The Eco-Saxons!

15 March, 2010

To celebrate National Science and Engineering Week visitors to West Stow Anglo-Saxon Village can join forces with Experimental Archaeologists on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 March as they investigate how eco-friendly the earliest English were.

Through a range of demonstrations, activities and trails, visitors will have the chance to find out if the original occupants of the village built sustainably, used compost, reused and recycled. Visitors can also meet costumed interpreters who will breathe life into the reconstructed village buildings, offering a glimpse into lives lived close to nature 1,500 years ago.

Inspired by their green past, visitors can look to a greener future when browsing the eco-stalls where they can talk to the experts about a whole range of eco-products such as energy-saving devices, water-saving gadgets, natural products for skincare and cleaning, eco-friendly insulation, eco-paints and clothing made from sustainable crops, composting systems and wormeries.

The Anglo-Saxon village is open every day from 10am until 5pm with last admission at 3.30pm. Admission prices for 'The Eco-Saxons' are £6 adults, £5 children/concessions, £17.50 family ticket. For more information on this and other events at West Stow please telephone 01284 728718.
