Nature lovers are in for a treat on the evening of Thursday 27 August between 8pm and 10pm when bat expert Dr Bill Landells leads an informative evening walk around West Stow Country Park in search of the bat species that are active at this time of year.
The evening will begin with a fascinating slide show which will familiarise would-be bat spotters with the lives and habits of these mysterious and endearing nocturnal creatures. Bill will also demonstrate his 'bat detector' which he will use on the walk to pick up otherwise inaudible bat calls, enabling him to identify them according to their species.
Bill will then lead the group out into the night air of the country park where visitors might be lucky enough to encounter pipistrelles, long-eareds, noctules, Daubenton's and serotines.
Tickets for the 'Guided Bat Walk' cost £6 for adults (16 and over) and £3 for accompanied children over 10 years. Places are limited and booking is essential so please call 01284 728718.
