A day of free holiday activities brings TV living history presenters to Moyse’s Hall, Bury St Edmunds on Saturday 2 August, bringing to life the skills and activities which would have been found in the market in past times.
Medieval storyteller Thor Ewing, (from Channel 4 Time Team, Schools at Work and BBC2 Zig Zag Timelines) will be joined by Arriere-ban, (Live’n History), and others for a day of hands on activities! Make chain mail, coins, pouches; wind cord, drop spin and see the stonemason at work.
If you like what you try, then this is the time to sign up for Fridays in August when there will be the opportunity to develop the skills seen and tried with morning workshops for the over 7’s. Workshops running from 11am to 1pm include making holiday journals using stained glass design; puppet making and telling a story; portraits and picture frames; disguises and more. The cost is £6 per child and booking is essential.
Moyse’s Hall Museum is open seven days a week from 10am to 5pm; (last entry 4pm), closed Bank Holiday Monday. Usual Admission is adults £3, child/concessions £2, families £9 and residents of St Edmundsbury free.
