St Edmundsbury has become the first council in the country to take the unusual step of publishing an extensive report on car parking activities in the borough during 2005/06.
The borough council, which is the main provider of off-street parking in Bury St Edmunds and Haverhill, put together the comprehensive report for discussion by its new Sustainable Development Panel at the end of last month. The report brings together the council's car parking policies, data on car parking events and enforcement activities and key changes and initiative relating to parking.
The report also gives details of residents' parking schemes which are run by the council and of activity in on-street pay and display areas, which are also managed by St Edmundsbury.
A new report will be produced annually, and will focus more on events during the year and policies as they change.
The report is available on St Edmundsbury's website. It is thought the council is the first in the country to publish a car parking report.
