Children from a Cavendish pre-school will receive a visit from Cllr Margaret Charlesworth, Mayor of St Edmundsbury, on Thursday 15 November. The mayor will be delivering the Anglia in Bloom Award for Best Young Persons Project for Under 12s, which the pupils recently won. As no-one from Cavendish could attend the awards ceremony the mayor undertook to collect it for them and re-present it.
CavendishPre-School only started their garden in April 2007. It was designed by local landscaper Paul Hawkins with the children, aged between two and five years, in mind. Everyone has enjoyed the work they have done and even during the summer holidays parents and children made sure the plants were tended to and watered. Although some of the children began primary school this autumn, they are coming back specially on Thursday to meet the mayor.
Also attending from Cavendish in Bloom are Basil Ambrose, Ray Scully, John Hastie and Bill Thomson.
