Anglo-Saxon village life revived

11 August, 2009

Visitors to West Stow Anglo-Saxon Village on Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 August will have the chance to discover how the original occupants of the village lived and worked 1,500 years ago.

Dressed in authentic costume, living history group Stowacynn will be occupying the village buildings, offering visitors the chance to see how the early Anglo-Saxon settlers dressed, prepared and cooked their meals, and farmed the surrounding fields. Visitors can experience demonstrations of a range of crafts that were necessary to a self-sufficient community such as blacksmithing, potting, spinning, weaving and basketry, as well as the tempting sights and smells of period cookery.

West Stow Anglo-Saxon Village is open every day from 10am to 5pm with last admission at 4pm. Admission prices for “Village Life” are £6 adults, £5 children/concessions, £17.50 family ticket.

For more information on this and other events at West Stow please telephone 01284 728718.
