The world’s most popular collectible secret – buttons!

11 June, 2007

You see them every day. They fasten your shirt together, hold your trousers up, and maybe make a fashion statement on your new jumper. Buttons!

Almost everyone has some buttons hidden away in a box or jar. They can be plain and simple, or truly elegant works of art. Due to our natural hoarding instincts, buttons find their way into nooks and crannies in our homes.

Sigrid Josefowski, a keen button collector and member of Mabilla, the volunteer group assisting with the current costume exhibition, will be giving an informative lecture on this subject on Friday 15 June, at Moyse’s Hall Museum in Bury St Edmunds.

The lecture starts at 2pm and is called ‘There’s more to buttons than you think’. It costs £3.60 for adults and £3.10 concessions.
