Cooking up a culinary treat!

11 April, 2008

Culinary hot shots from across the borough will take to the kitchens on Tuesday to battle it out in a charity contest to find the best dish created from local produce.

The competition has been organised to raise funds for Riverwalk School and Bury St Edmunds Volunteer Centre – both chosen charities of current St Edmundsbury Mayor Cllr Margaret Charlesworth.

Taking place at West Suffolk College, the contest will see teams create culinary masterpieces from a box of mystery ingredients. Their dishes will then be judged and prizes given for first, second and third place.

Cllr Charlesworth, said:

"Part of my chosen role in my year as Mayor of St Edmundsbury is to raise funds for local charities and in doing so also raise the profile of businesses and education in the borough. Both of my charities give much needed and highly valued services to the community."
