Celebrate St Edmund Day for free at Moyse’s Hall

10 November, 2008

How important was Edmund to Bury St Edmunds, why was he killed and when was he patron saint of England? Come along to Moyse’s Hall Museum, Bury St Edmunds to find out the answers and much more on Sunday 23 November.

At 2pm, John Chatwin, a member of Da Engliscan Gesidnas will give an illustrated lecture on ‘St Edmund, King and Martyr’. Suitable for people aged 14 and over, the lecture will be free. Anyone interested in attending should book their place in advance.

For families, there will be a ‘drop-in’ workshop taking place during the afternoon with RojoArt. Between 1pm and 3.30pm, entertainments will include storytelling with Kirsty and an opportunity to create an exciting souvenir of St Edmund to take home, particularly suitable for primary school age children.

Also on display during the weekend of 22 and 23 November will be the St Edmund themed quilt (a wall hanging depicting Edmund and Bury St Edmunds) which has just returned from being on display at the Festival of Quilts in Birmingham.

Moyse’s Hall Museum is open from Monday to Sunday between 10am and 5pm, with last entry at 4pm. Full details of all of the activities on offer are available from the museum on 01284 706183 or visit www.moyseshall.org
