We’re only a month away from the start of this year’s BurySOUND competition, where 12 St Edmundsbury based bands will compete for this much acclaimed title.
All performances will take place at the Corn Exchange in Bury St Edmunds. Heat one kicks off on Friday 7 October with performances from A Violent Reaction, Biff Tannen, The Black Mountains and The Khe Sanh Approach. Heat two follows on Saturday 22 October with Final Rest (formerly Methods of Punishment), Heartbreaker, Savannah and Where’s Jonny? Heat three is on 4 November with performances from Burn, Forgive is Forget, Out Patience and Polariss.
The best band from each then battle it out at the final on Saturday 26 November, where the winner will claim £500 of equipment from Sounds Plus and two days at West Suffolk College recording studio, plus the chance to play at other gigs within the borough. There is also something new for this year, with every band member taking part in the competition receiving a £5 gift voucher from Sounds Plus.
Doors will open at 7.30pm and ticket prices are £5 in advance (£6.50 on the door if there are any left!) from the Bury St Edmunds coach and bus station, Hardcore Hobbies, MVC, Sounds Plus and Sunrise (all in Bury St Edmunds). Credit card line – Tourist Information Centre on 01284 764667 (£5.50 including booking fee).
Last year the majority of tickets sold out in advance, so you are advised to get yours as soon as possible to avoid disappointment! For more information e-mail BurySOUND@stedsbc.gov.uk, phone Michelle Hurcomb on 01284 757062 or click on The Scene at www.stedmundsbury.gov.uk
