With their quirky and original approach to music, and their exhilarating and energetic live performances, Gypsy-folk band 3 Daft Monkeys have become festival favourites throughout the UK and Europe.
The band weave world music influences around classic folk melodies and their passion, intensity and sheer joy of life mixed with their infectious dancing rhythms will leave you breathless, enthralled and exhilarated. The desire to dance at one of their live shows is irresistible! See if you can resist the power at The apex on Friday 24 February!
3 Daft Monkeys have ploughed their own furrow through the music business, and despite their cottage-industry approach have created a huge buzz across the music scene. 'Whispering' Bob Harris was so impressed by their live performance at Cropredy 2010 that he invited them to perform a live set and interview on his BBC Radio 2 show in April, which was repeated on the Jo Whiley show later that week. The band have also been played by Mike Harding (BBC Radio 2), and on Late Junction (BBC Radio 3) as well as enjoying frequent airplay on many local and international radio stations. Articles about the band can be found in Acoustic Magazine, Rock n Reel, fROOTS, and Uncut.
In 2011 the band appeared on the Glade and Avalon stages at Glastonbury and at Beautiful Days Festival, pulling crowds well into their thousands, and also headlined festivals in Holland, Belgium, and Germany. The recent addition of Richie Mulryne on percussion and Lukas Drinkwater on bass and backing vocals has delighted audiences and further enhanced their famously dynamic shows where you'll hear tracks from the new album plus live favourites from their previous three studio albums.
