Great reasons to visit west Suffolk

9 January, 2008

A handy guide listing great reasons to visit west Suffolk will soon be available in tourist information centres across the country to encourage even more people to travel to the area.

The guide has been produced jointly by St Edmundsbury Borough Council and Forest Heath District Council. It gives details of places to stay, where to eat and attractions to visit, all of which are designed to meet a range of budgets and tastes. The guide covers the main towns of Bury St Edmunds and Newmarket, along with surrounding towns and rural areas in between.

Cllr Nigel Aitkens, St Edmundsbury Cabinet member with responsibility for tourism, said:

“While this guide makes essential reading for anyone planning a trip to our beautiful county, it also provides great inspiration to those living in West Suffolk. It is very often the case that we don’t make the most of what we have on our doorstep. This guide describes the events and experiences for each season and all the contacts you’ll need to tailor a trip, be it a few hours or even days.”

Cllr Steven James, Forest Heath Culture Champion, said:

“Forest Heath is delighted to be part of this initiative, another example of co-operation between local councils. The guide will be invaluable to visitors and hopefully prove a good investment to our advertisers.”

The guide is currently available from the Tourist Information Centre and bus station, both in Bury St Edmunds.
