Three of the borough’s most fascinating wind and watermills will throw open their doors to the public on Sunday (13 May) to mark National Mills Weekend.
Visitors will get the chance to see the windmills in Bardwell and Stanton, along with Pakenham Watermill. Along with guided tours, milling demonstrations, craft exhibitions, bread making and other entertainments will also take place throughout the day.
Bury St Edmunds Tourist Information Centre, which is run by St Edmundsbury Borough Council, has organised a coach trip to transport people around the mills. The coach leaves Bury Bus Station at 2pm and returns at 5pm and will also pick up in some nearby villages. Tickets are priced at £3 for adults and £2 for children.
For more information on the event or the route the bus will take, contact the Tourist Information Centre on 01284 764667.
