Shovel it yourself

6 May, 2008

Free soil improver is available at a ‘shovel-it-yourself’ event, being held from 8am on Saturday 10 May at Rougham Hill Household Waste Recycling Centre in Bury St Edmunds.

This high nutrient material is made locally from the contents of the borough’s brown bins and it is used commercially on golf courses, in landscaping and on fields. It is sterile, sweet smelling and excellent for improving soil structure or even spreading on lawns. Mixed with bagged compost, it can also be diluted for use in pots and plant containers. You need to bring your own bags and shovels.

The event is being held by St Edmundsbury Borough Council as part of National Compost Awareness Week and information will also be available on how to obtain discounted composter bins.
