A first for the band competition – five bands per heat instead of four! Due to the overwhelming number and quality of entries for this year, the organisers have had no alternative but to extend the line-up from the usual 12 to 15 bands for this year’s competition. With still only one band from each heat able to go through to the Final, the competition will be even fiercer than ever!
To cope with this bumper line-up, doors will open at 7pm with the first band on at 7.30pm.
As it enters its seventh year, the competition kicks off the first heat on Friday 29October with The Secret Hairdresser, Despite Tuesday’s Plan, In From The Cold, Polaris and BlackMountain.
Heat two follows on Saturday 13 November featuring Animal Planet, Ionic, My Epic Enemy, Where’s Jonny? and Story So Far. The last heat will be on Friday 26 November with Ashborn, San Francisco, The Fashion, Latah and 8 Lives Left. The best band from each heat then do battle at the final on Saturday 11 December, where the winner will claim £750 of equipment from Sounds Plus and two days in the West Suffolk College recording studio, plus the chance to play at other gigs within the borough.
Ticket prices are £5 in advance (£6.50 on the door if there are any left!) from the Bury St Edmunds bus and coach station, Hardcore Hobbies, MVC, Sounds Plus and Sunrise (all in Bury St Edmunds). Credit card line – Tourist Information Centre 01284 764667 (£5.50 including booking fee).
Last year all heats and the final sold out well in advance, so you are advised to get your tickets as soon as possible to avoid disappointment!
