'Peaceful Bury St Edmunds' hides a far less tranquil past than most people realise. Join local historian Ron Murrell for a compelling lecture looking at the conflicts between monastic life in the Great Abbey and the local townspeople which led to riots in 1327 and the destruction of part of the Abbey Gate.
The lecture is at 2pm on Thursday 18 March at Moyses Hall museum, Bury St Edmunds, and costs £5.50 adults/£5 concessions which includes refreshment. Booking is essential to ensure a space by contacting the museum on 01284 706183 or calling in.
More information is available from Gill Hawkins, Heritage Officer at Moyse's Hall Museum, on 01284 757161.
